For many people an all weather tire would be a better choice. If you off road there are a handful of AT tires that work well in the snow. In general I am not in favor of all seasons for very snow climates, but once again, there are a few out there that do ok. The Defender is a great tire. It is what I plan on putting on my Outback, when the factory Continental tires wear out. But the Defender is not a summer tire.
