Shot mine Thursday in a "contest" between my 1960's Rem. 600 6mm and the 99 in 308. Started at 200 yards. The 99 was OK, hitting MOD (minute of deer) . Say 3" groups with 150gr SST handloads. The 600 did better, actually MOA but seemed to have a bit of vertical. At 300 yards there was a noticeable change.Sights: drilled-and-tapped receiver; post front, adjustable rear. It is not safe to do the reverse, and it's not safe to reload 7.62x51 cases to 308 specs. The brass may be thicker on 7.62x51 cases, thus reducing case capacity.Re: advice on removing a barrel on a 99. Had that happen with a 99C in 284 once, polished the chamber to, no luck, sold the gun.
