FWIW the 14 bolt is easier to get spare parts for in general, they are super easy to set up the gears, and they have a pinion support which is stronger and can make a great spot for tying a truss into.Torque specs (#-ft): Pinion shaft lock nut 470. Driveshaft bolts = 100. Differential bearing cap bolts = 80. Ring gear bolts — grade 9 = 220. Oil filler plug — 1/4-inch recess drive = 25. Differential housing cover bolts (F350) = 35. Differential housing cover bolts (F450-F550) = 45. Sensor (ABS) bolt = 30.Found a F-350 with a D60 front I can use. I will swap in the rear axle also to simplify. Keeps the same axle ratio, bolt pattern etc...Dana 70 has same size shafts, but 35-spline. I don't think the .04" bigger ring gear diameter matters(10.5 vs. 10.54). It is loads stronger, but hevier. also you are limited to a 5.13 gear ratio, depending on tire size and application thats probably not a problem. Like. M.Dana 70 is stronger than 14 bolt FF. All Dana 80's I have ever seen have been dually axles so you would need to measure the width to make sure it will work. You might want to consider an AAM 11.25 out of a newer model GM it already has rear disc brakes. Just a thought. I prefer the 14 bolt FF rearend myself.From checking around, the R&P and locker choices for the Sterling are pretty decent, but not quite whats available for the 14 bolt in my brothers chevy. The thing I like the most about the Sterling is the way the brake drums come off with out having to pull the shafts, makes it much quicker and easier than my bro's 14 bolt.
